A two-day National Workshop ‘AppsFluxus 2014 on Android Apps’ was organized at M M Modi College, Patiala in association with Finland Labs and iFest IIT Roorkee. While inaugurating the workshop Dr. R. K. Bawa, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science, Punjabi University, Patiala emphasized that we are using large number applications on android mobiles. Android platform is very famous among 71% of mobile developers’ population. Hence, it is need of the hour that the students and teachers of Computer Science learn how to create these applications themselves. They will get training to create such applications during this workshop. They will also discuss their doubts and share their experiences.
The College Principal, Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the guests and the delegates. He said that a number of innovations are being developed in the field of Information and Communication technology. The teachers and the students engaged in this area are expected to equip themselves with the latest developments. This workshop will go a long way in achieving this objective.
Mr. Vishal Rastogi and Mr. Ankit Kumar, special trainers from Finland Labs, New Delhi imparted training to the delegates and answered their queries.
The valedictory session of the two-days workshop was presided over by Dr. Neeraj Sharma of Computer Science Department, Punjabi University, Patiala.
As many as 67 delegates from various educational institutes including Punjabi University and Desh Bhagat University took part in this workshop. Login Applications, Dialing Application, Camera Application, Calling Application, Internet Application, Music Player Application and Picture Animation application were the topics under discussion during the workshop.
Sh. C. P. Kamboj, a famous Computer Scholar from Punjabi University attended the workshop and shared his experiences with other delegates.
Conveners of the Workshop Prof. Vinay Garg and Prof. Ajit Kumar informed that one million android applications were published and 50 billion downloads were reported upto July 2013. One billion android devices have been anticipated till Sept. 2013. Its market is also expanding very fast.
Prof. Harmohan Sharma and Prof. Ganesh Sethi conducted the stage during the workshop. Prof. Sukhdev Singh, Prof. Rohit Sachdeva, Prof. Sumeet Kumar and Prof. Poonam Sharma did a lot of hard work to make the workshop a success.
